T2K experiment enters a new phase with significantly improved sensitivity for its world leading neutrino oscillation research
— Started data taking with upgraded accelerator neutrino beam and new detectors —

The following is a press release issued by the “T2K Collaboration”, in which the Experimental Particle Physics Group of our department is participating. The group is contributing with critical roles in the monitoring of the neutrino beam, development of new detectors, as well as analyses of neutrino oscillations and interactions. Professor Atsuko Ichikawa served as the experiment’s spokesperson for five years until last year, highlighting the important role Tohoku University is playing in this experiment.
