Tohoku University invites applications for an associate professor position in physics starting in March 2010. This position is associated with the launch of the Future Global Leadership Program which will operate international undergraduate courses in several areas taught in English. The position is formally under the Institute for International Education, which is responsible for the international courses, but an office space will be provided in the Department of Physics, Graduate School of Science. The initial appointment will be up to March 31, 2014. The possibility of extension is uncertain at the present moment. |
| Qualifications |

Candidates will be considered in all areas of theoretical and experimental physics. The minimum qualification is a Ph.D. degree in physics. Responsibilities will include teaching in introductory physics courses (mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and elementary mathematics for physics), and providing support in operating the international courses, such as preparing physics education materials in English. The successful candidate is also expected to perform research in his/her own field in physics, in cooperation with one of the research groups in the Department of Physics.
